On September 4th, for the first time, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) participated in the China-ASEAN Education and Cooperation Week (CAECW) and the “Belt & Road Nations” Presidents Forum and Education Exhibition, held from August 28th to August 30th, 2023, in Guiyang, China. The delegation was represented by Prof. Dr. Mohd Radhi Ibrahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International).
The program, themed “Development of Integrative and Innovative Education,” brought together university leaders from around the world, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Australia, Singapore, and many more.
According to Prof. Dr. Mohd Radhi, this participation provided USIM with an opportunity to explore collaboration possibilities, especially with universities and schools in China. This collaboration could involve international student intake, educational, research, and student exchange programs, among other aspects.
Additionally, this large-scale program offered participating universities a chance to showcase their educational programs. Over 14 schools and universities were invited to participate in this education forum and exhibition.
“Participating in such programs also provides an opportunity for USIM to learn how to enhance the quality of education at USIM, positioning it as a global reference university by 2025,” he added.
The China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Education of China, and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province, has become a crucial platform for China-ASEAN educational cooperation and cultural exchange. CAECW 2023 is committed to promoting international cooperation and exchanges between China and other nations to realize the “Going-out and Bringing-in” education campaign in China, develop university internationalization, and nurture international talent for national and regional economic and social development.
