Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) had the honor of hosting a courtesy visit from Mindanao State University-Sulu (MSU-Sulu) as part of the initial process to explore a proposed educational partnership. The visit aimed to establish an initial link and reaffirm both institutions’ commitment toward academic collaboration and mutual growth.
The visit was attended by:
- Atty. Abdul Aziz A. Ishmael, LPT, SCL, Associate Professor, College of Law, Sulu Extension Campus, Mindanao State University-Sulu
- Associate Professor Dr. Asmaddy Bin Haris, Director of Professional Advancement & Continuing Education Centre (USIM PACE)
- Dr. Sofia Hayati Yusof, Director of USIM ‘Alamiyyah
- Dr. Khairul Asyraf Mohd Nathir, Deputy Director of USIM ‘Alamiyah
- Associate Professor Dr Izawati Wook, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Syariah and Law (FSU)
During the meeting, the following key points were discussed:
- Exploring potential areas of academic collaboration between USIM and MSU-Sulu.
- Developing joint initiatives focused on faculty and student exchanges, research partnerships, and knowledge-sharing programs.
- Laying the groundwork for a future Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) to formalize the collaboration with FSU.
- Proposal for Collaboration through Joint Degree, Double Degree, Franchise Program, and Others, further discussions will be liase with the Director of the Professional Advancement & Continuing Education Centre (USIM PACE).
- Proposal for an online collaborative Lecture on Islamic Law in the Philippines and Malaysia. In Partnership with Lecturers from FSU and MSU.
The courtesy visit successfully established an initial connection between USIM and MSU-Sulu, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities. Both parties agreed to further assess the feasibility of an official partnership and to engage in follow-up discussions regarding specific collaborative programs.
USIM extends its appreciation to Atty. Abdul Aziz A. Ishmael for his visit and looks forward to fostering a strong academic relationship with MSU-Sulu soon.
