8 June – Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Hadhramout University Yemen signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will be in effect until 8 June 2025. The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate collaboration on various academic matters, including online academic discussions, research grant projects, and other mutually beneficial initiatives.

 

The President of Hadhramout University, Prof Dr Muhammad S. Khanbash stated that the MoU with USIM aims to broaden their network with an Islamic university and explore collaborative opportunities in the field of scientific research, particularly in the area of bee research.

 

The signing of the MoU between USIM and Hadhramout University is a direct outcome of USIM’s visit to the Yemen Embassy on 10 April 2023. During the visit, USIM had the privilege to meet with the Ambassador of the Yemen Embassy, H.E Dr Adel Mohamed Ali BA Hamid where they introduced USIM and showcased their activities and agenda, seeking support from the Yemen Embassy. This visit played a pivotal role in fostering the collaboration leading to the MoU signing.

 

At present, USIM is proud to have 29 active students from Yemen who are currently enrolled in various academic programs. Additionally, USIM has a total of 33 alumni who have successfully completed their studies at the university.
